8th Grade Batik Artists
Steps to the next project. DUE MONDAY: TWO SKETCHES (directions below).~ Create two mandala sketches (that fit on a 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper). You can click here for visuals to the directions below.
1) Draw a large circle on your paper (use something round to trace!)
2) Draw one line HORIZONTAL line in the center of your circle and another VERTICAL line so you have 4 equal quadrants in the circle.
3) Draw a small circle in the center of your large circle where the vertical and horizontal lines intersect.
4) Create organic shapes coming out of the small circle into the quadrants.
5) Add more shapes (they shouldn't be too small, though...!) and make sure they are symmetrical in your design (the same on both sides of the dividing lines).
6) Continue to draw out from the center and fill the space. You can go outside of the circle, but not too much.
