March Madness Artist

Participate in the March Madness Festivities & get Dojo Points from Hillman!

6th Grade - FISK & Hampton

This is the week!  The deadline for the 3 personalized license plates is Monday for FISK & Tuesday for Hampton!  All of the criteria is in previous posts on this blog so if want to double check to see if the criteria has been met, look it up and get it in on time.  Lateness is not an option.

First we will have class critiques and grading will be done ON THE SPOT during these discussions.  Later in the week we will be planning our cross-country trip in groups.  Groups will be revealed next week.  Exciting because you're going to make an itinerary and map for your group trip!

8th Grade Spelman & Morehouse

FYI Duck lips only look good on ducks.  Truth.
Scholars are embarking on their new project The Selfie Portrait.  Selfie photos can be emailed to Ms. Hillman (jhillman@cpcsschool.org) but it must be in by Monday.  I can print them out for you.
ALSO, you need to have a photo or drawing of an image that helps represent you and your IDENTITY.

Vocabulary tests will also continue this week, specifically on Printmaking terms that are related to this new project.  Definitions were given in class last week, but if you missed it, here they are: block printing ink, pattern/repetition, edition, mood, symbolism, proof.  Get familiar with the names of these printmaking artists:  Dox Thrash, Andy Warhol, Charles Alston, Robert Blackburn.  Look up examples of their work and notice the themes and moods in the work.

SELFIES...DO THAT NOW.

7th Grade FAMU & Howard

Everything is graded in Art Class.
Every.
Single.
Thing.
That being said, many 7th grade scholars still have not turned in the Social Action Poster Project ESSAY, and the information needed for the current Micrography project.  LATENESS HURTS YOUR GRADE.
This is the criteria:
- Song name, artist and lyrics to Ms. Hillman (jhillman@cpcsschool.org).  OMIT (take out) CURSE WORDS IF THEY ARE A PART OF THE SONG.
- Write a couple sentences of how you know of the song.
- Note the VERSE you are going to use for your social action project.
- HAVE AN IMAGE that is related to your social action issue.  It can be an original drawing/photograph or can be a resource photo.  DUE ASAP.

Questions?  Email me.  If I gave you feedback already, listen to it!

5th Grade Xavier & Tuskegee

If you don't know "PEANUTS", you need to check it out ASAP.
Life is a comic strip for us for this next project.  Scholars in Tuskegee are to have designed their main characters for the Autobiographical Comic Strip story by next class period.  Xavier will be doing that in class this Monday.  Know the story you are going to be telling and drawing out.
Here is the criteria for this project that your comic strip must have:
- A sequence of events that has a beginning, middle, end (it must make sense)
- at least two characters (you will be one of them since it's an autobiographical story!)
- dialogue
- at least 1 thought bubble
- at least 2 captions/narrative boxes
- at least 2 different points of view VISUALLY (think about 1st and 3rd person)
- COLOR!  (that will be the very last thing we do together for this project).

Questions about any of this?  Email Ms. Hillman: jhillman@cpcsschool.org.  I will ALWAYS let you know when I receive your email.  If you don't hear back from me, that means I didn't get it. (FAIL!)
